Yesterday’s HS&W Forum, chaired by Gren Tipper FCIOB Tipper, brought together clients, contractors and industry partners for a really valuable discussion on wellbeing, mental fitness and culture in construction.

A big thank you to our guest speakers Tom Storey, Tom Buckley and Dr Phil Hopley who shared insights from the implementation of Legal & General’s wellbeing strategy across the construction supply chain. The session sparked strong engagement around:

🔹 Co‑designed wellbeing content and digital tools, supported by on‑site interventions

🔹 The importance of line manager training and workforce ownership

🔹 Measuring impact using meaningful wellbeing data and dashboards

🔹 Practical experiences of the Ownminder programme in supporting site teams, agency labour and transient workforces

🔹 Breaking down barriers between trades, valuing experience, and fostering a more inclusive, supportive site culture

🔹 Addressing neurodiversity, leadership, and confidence‑building for trainees and apprentices

We also explored the commercial and social value of scaling wellbeing initiatives, opportunities for sector‑wide collaboration, and next steps towards a joint mental health code of practice.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to such an open, constructive conversation. Plenty of momentum to build on as we continue to raise standards around health, safety and wellbeing across the industry.

📅 Next meeting: mid–late April (TBC)
